Before you decide to put yourself out there, it’s important to have a full understanding of your artistic identity.


The goal of marketing yourself as an artist is to set yourself apart from the rest.


What makes you the shit?


What do you have to offer that others don't?


Branding is your personality and how you engage with others.


A solidified brand will show music blogs that you’re serious about making music your career. The confidence you have in knowing who you are and how to professionally represent yourself will help you stay clear of the dreaded email trash bin. And hopefully, you’ll get a positive response.



Remember people consume brands that signify themselves. Your listeners do not consume your music. They consume your brand that in the process creates their identity. Think how much force there are in brands that have a "mission" to change something. Think about the amount you would gain from loyal fans if your music and brand will represent something important.


Make sure your music is good. Do not start scaling up these branding ideas before that.
